Elias De Mohan
Founder and creator of the Vibrational Sound & Color system, teacher, singer, counsellor and prolific painter.
A life shaped by sound, service and experience
Elias was born William David Dumitru in Detroit in 1923. Music and singing were early passions, and he studied operatic singing for seventeen years. His work with the voice led to a lifelong exploration of what sound, music, breath and awareness could contribute to emotional and spiritual development.
After studying music and social science, Elias became involved in group work and metaphysical teaching. He began offering consultations and past-life sessions, gradually discovering that he could support people seeking transformation through sound and color.
Houston, 1970
Elias established the Esoteric Philosophy Center in Houston and began developing a practical system for personality transformation through vibrational sound, color, music, voice and conscious awareness.
Teaching and writing
He travelled across North America, New Zealand and Denmark, offering workshops, lectures and individual sessions. Years of practice, observation and experience became the foundation of the first two books.
The Foundation
In 2006 Elias accepted Ross Sinclaire’s invitation to live in Calgary. Together with Raphael, they established the Universal Foundation for the Creative Heart in 2007.
Elias was also a productive painter with a distinctive symbolic style. He often painted with his fingers, working with color and form until the end of his life.
A living body of work
Elias’s teachings continue through the books, exercises and people who study and practise Vibrational Sound & Color.
Life and work
Elias De Mohan (1923–2012) grew up in Detroit in a Romanian family. His early life included serious musical and operatic training, formal education and a sustained search through metaphysical and spiritual groups.
In the 1970s, while living in Houston, Texas, Elias developed the foundations of the system that became Vibrational Sound and Color. He worked with sound, color, breath, meditation and the psychology of transformation as practical means of helping people observe and change deeply rooted patterns.
His work led to travel, teaching and the development of centres for study. He later lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, and in 2006 moved to Calgary, Alberta, at Ross Sinclaire’s invitation. In 2007, Elias, Raphael De Mohan and Ross established the Universal Foundation for the Creative Heart.
Elias was also a painter. His visual work, like his teaching, explored the expressive qualities of color and form. Until his death in 2012, he continued to guide the development of the system and the first two books.
